The COVID pandemic made us feel like we were living in our very own version of Fallout Shelter - from the scarcity of groceries and goods, hesitation to allow strangers into your home, a fear of the unknown and isolating oneself to escape the disaster that lies outside.

Here are a few moments from Fallout Shelter that were eerily close to the 2020 COVID pandemic reality.

1. 2020 - Everything is OK.

Sure the world is literally on fire and a deadly virus threatens to kill, or at least affect the livelihoods, of everyone. But we can all pretend like everything is fine from the relative security and comfort of our house.

The only thing left is a deathclaw attack and Fallout Shelter would be a life in 2020 simulator.

2. Before and After COVID

January 2020 and the world was alive and abuzz in the promise of a new year - people made resolutions and confided in friends that this would mark the year where they accomplished their goals and achieve their grandest desires.

Two months later, COVID fears arose and it's been month-after-month of bad news bears. From aggressive hornets, wild fires, COVID scares, economic recession, scarcity shortages of groceries and toilet paper and the death of numerous beloved celebrities.

The world before and after COVID has certainly changed - perhaps not to the effect of a nuclear attack from the Fallout series, but certainly to some level of ruin.

3. Trying to Learn New Skills Unsuccessfully

The one upside of the pandemic is people had a bit more free time to invest in trying new things and learning new skills. Many attempted to learn how to bake, cook and prepare fancier meals.

Attempts to make sourdough bread, create more intricate breakfasts and beyond littered eveyone's social media. But not all were successful as shown in this Simpsons & Fallout mashup meme.

4. Trying to Stay Optimistic

Socializing during the 2020 pandemic was difficult enough - from Zoom calls to finding ways to safely entertain or meet up. Trying to stay optimistic while the world burned was definitely a difficult feat.
